Associação Portas P’rà Vida (APPV) is a Lamego-based organization supporting people with disabilities or impairments through social care, skills development and pathways to greater independence and community participation. Its services include a residential home for people aged 16 and over, and supported independent-living residences for adults with intellectual disabilities. The association also operates three activity and inclusion centres and is developing an additional unit to extend its support to more young people and adults.
APPV provides vocational training in floriculture and gardening, forestry, and social work and guidance. Recognized as a training provider by DGERT, it aims to help people with disabilities access employment and participate more equally in society. Its social enterprise, APPVERDE, offers gardening and forestry services while creating work opportunities for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. The association also offers hippotherapy, using the movement of horses as a therapeutic and educational resource to support physical, psychological and social development. Through these services, APPV seeks to promote quality of life, autonomy and inclusion.
