Portland Maine Youth Football League

Portland Youth Football League (PYFL) is a community-based charitable, volunteer organization serving young athletes in Portland, Maine. The league uses football and cheerleading to encourage leadership, build character, and help children develop skills in a supportive sports environment. Its football programs include coed flag football for students in kindergarten through grade 5, tackle football for grades 4–6, and a middle school tackle team for grades 7–8. PYFL also offers indoor NFL Flag Football for players in several age divisions, with seasonal registration and weekly practices and games. Its Portland Tide program provides winter competition cheer, including team practices and participation in local competitions.

Across its teams, PYFL emphasizes safe play and strong foundations in football fundamentals, with the goal of preparing athletes to compete and pursue positions on local high school football teams. Fall games are held on weekends at Fitzpatrick Stadium, Deering’s Memorial Field, or Cheverus’s Boulus Stadium. The league also welcomes volunteers, supporters, and sponsors who want to contribute to youth sports in the Portland area.
