Portrait Archiv

The Portrait Archiv is a platform dedicated to preserving the memory of the deceased by saving their portrait from being forgotten. Founded by Bernhard Wirz in April 2011, this initiative, with the support of a dedicated volunteer editorial team, has amassed nearly 300,000 portraits and genealogical data from various sources since its launch. The platform not only aids in honoring individuals but also provides valuable resources for genealogical research.

The recent relaunch in 2018/2019, made possible with the support of the Albert Koechlin Stiftung and other donors, showcases a revamped user experience and technical enhancements. Supported by the Zentralschweizerische Gesellschaft für Familienforschung, this brand has transcended regional boundaries to become a vital resource for individuals worldwide.
