Portraits

Portraits by Anselm is a bilingual (German and English) interview podcast and portrait photography series exploring the lives people truly live, beyond their public identities and the versions they rehearse for others. Created by Anselm, a photographer, artist, and creative director, the project brings together conversation, visual portraiture, and personal expression to reveal each guest’s individual path. Every participant is interviewed, photographed, and invited to sketch themselves without instruction or judgment. These complementary forms give guests space to share their perspectives and experiences in their own way.

The series features people from varied backgrounds and professions, including a radio host and educator, a violist, composer and artist, and a priest, theologian and pastor. Each portrait offers a closer look at what makes us human, while the interviews explore questions that are often left unasked. Together, the photographs, conversations, and self-drawn sketches create an intimate record of each person’s story, inviting audiences to look beyond appearances and encounter lives as they are truly lived.
