About Port Sunlight Village
Port Sunlight is a historic village on the Wirral, founded in 1888 by soap manufacturer William Lever as a healthy, beautiful place for workers at the Lever Brothers soap factory to live. Today, it is an inspiring place to live, work and visit, known for its distinctive architecture, gardens, parkland and strong community. Port Sunlight Village Trust cares for the village’s heritage, supports its residents and welcomes visitors to explore its story.
Visitors can discover local history at Port Sunlight Museum and the Worker’s Cottage, admire the Lady Lever Art Gallery and the Gallery at Bridge Cottage, and explore the village’s buildings, monuments, gardens and parks. The Trust offers walking tours, trails, exhibitions, talks, workshops and family activities, alongside learning resources for schools and groups. Practical visitor services include ticket bookings, group visits, access information, eating and drinking guidance, and venue and room hire. The village also hosts seasonal events, markets and festivals.
