Potsdamer Schokoladenmarkt

Potsdamer Schokoladenmarkt is a themed public market celebrating chocolate, cocoa, and the craft of transforming cocoa beans into finished products. The 2026 event is scheduled for December 4–20, open daily from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at Alter Markt in Potsdam’s historic centre. Set among landmarks including the Barberini, the Old Town Hall, St. Nicholas’ Church, and the state parliament, the market brings food, craftsmanship, and community together in a distinctive cultural setting.

The event draws inspiration from Potsdam’s chocolate-making history, including Johann Friedrich Miethe’s production of steam chocolate nearby between 1830 and 1860. It invites makers, merchants, and other participants whose work relates to chocolate, cocoa, or the processing and sale of cocoa-based products. Visitors can explore offerings from specialist vendors and craftspeople, while information stands can share knowledge connected to the theme. The market welcomes applications from prospective exhibitors and seeks high-quality retail, craft, and informational stalls. Through this focus, Potsdamer Schokoladenmarkt offers a place to discover chocolate traditions, products, and skilled handiwork in the heart of Potsdam.
