The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH), established in 2011, is committed to improving rural healthcare across America. Each year, NOSORH organizes National Rural Health Day, celebrated on the third Thursday of November, to spotlight the essential efforts of rural healthcare providers and communities dedicated to addressing unique local health challenges. This observance, themed “The Power of Rural,” highlights the vital contributions of various stakeholders, including State Offices of Rural Health and organizations focused on rural wellness.
NOSORH provides valuable resources such as promotional toolkits, key messages, and data points that educate stakeholders about rural healthcare realities. Their initiatives include the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP), which showcases successful community-driven strategies to tackle pressing issues like opioid addiction in rural areas. Additionally, NOSORH promotes a range of official merchandise, including apparel and drinkware, designed to celebrate rural health achievements and foster community engagement. Through these efforts, NOSORH cultivates awareness, support, and partnerships to enhance the health of rural populations nationwide.
