Phnom Penh Center for Independent Living (PPCIL) is a Cambodian nongovernmental organization established in September 2009 and described as the country’s first independent living movement. Based in Phnom Penh, it works to empower people with severe disabilities to live independently, with dignity, and as active participants in their communities. PPCIL’s services include basic education and vocational training, peer counseling, personal assistant support, and assistive devices.
It also helps people identify accessible housing and employment opportunities. Through advocacy and social awareness programs, the organization promotes disability rights, challenges barriers, and encourages society to recognize the abilities and contributions of people with disabilities. Its activities include the Disabled in Cambodia Advocacy Program, independent living and personal assistant services, and employment promotion projects.
PPCIL emphasizes justice, respect, dignity, integrity, and accountability in its work with the people it serves, donors, partners, and the wider community. The organization also shares reports, research, news, and stories about its activities and disability inclusion in Cambodia
