The Pastoral da Pessoa Idosa is a dedicated organization founded on November 5, 2004, by Dr. Zilda Arns, focused on improving the lives of the elderly in Brazil. Over the past 20 years, it has provided compassionate support and friendship to approximately 100,000 elderly individuals each month through systematic home visits conducted by 20,000 trained volunteer leaders. With a presence in 1,080 municipalities nationwide, the organization champions the dignity of the elderly, advocating for their rights and ensuring they are valued members of society.

In addition to direct support, the Pastoral da Pessoa Idosa offers ongoing education and training through the Projeto Viver Mais, aimed at professionals and community leaders working with seniors and their families. The organization's mission goes beyond mere assistance; it seeks to foster a caring community that embraces the elderly with respect and honor.
