About PPIAF
PPIAF, the Public–Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility, is a globally recognized brand that plays a crucial role in addressing the critical need for more and better infrastructure worldwide. With the challenges of urbanization, climate change, and conflict, public resources alone are insufficient, making private sector participation essential. As part of its mission, PPIAF helps developing-country governments strengthen policies, regulations, and institutions to enable sustainable infrastructure with private-sector involvement.
They provide grants for technical assistance, knowledge services, and capacity building to support infrastructure development. PPIAF focuses on four main areas: improving competition, efficiency, and accountability in infrastructure; accelerating PPI program development and implementation; reducing risks in PPI programs and increasing creditworthiness of public counterparties; and mainstreaming resiliency, equity, and climate co-benefits. Their work generates hundreds of millions in infrastructure investment, enabling countries to build institutions, regulate markets, and diversify funding sources for resilient, affordable, and inclusive infrastructure.
PPIAF's knowledge products and capacity building efforts help governments attract private sector investments and strengthen their institutional frameworks for successful public-private partnerships. With a strong emphasis on research, tools, and best practices, PPIAF ensures that infrastructure projects are strategically and efficiently implemented while promoting transparency and preventing corruption. Their support extends to subnational entities, helping them access market-based financing without sovereign guarantees and improve infrastructure services.
PPIAF's role in driving sustainable infrastructure development is crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and ending extreme poverty worldwide. By bridging the gap between public resources and private sector investments, PPIAF paves the way for a resilient and inclusive future infrastructure
