Paint and Quarter Horse Foundation Bulgaria is a pioneering organization that is licensed by the National Agency for Child Protection in Bulgaria to provide animal-assisted therapy and therapeutic riding for children and young people with disabilities. Established in 2017, our team is united by a love for horses, particularly the Paint Horse and Quarter Horse breeds. Our mission is grounded in promoting the well-being and natural relationship between horses and humans. We strive for good treatment of animals, raising and caring for them in a way that mimics their natural environment, and using no violence or training aids that harm the horses. Through well-trained horses, we are dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities through therapeutic riding sessions.

In Bulgaria, the number of children and young people with disabilities exceeds 100,000. Unfortunately, official statistics and a register of children with disabilities do not exist. This poses challenges for these individuals and their families in terms of healthcare, social inclusion, and education. Many families struggle to cover even the basic necessities, let alone additional costs for rehabilitation services. Moreover, limited budgets and lack of personal assistants often prevent these families from spending time in nature. Addressing these issues is crucial to protect the rights of children with disabilities. Paint and Quarter Horse Foundation Bulgaria addresses these challenges by offering equine-assisted therapy and nature experiences free of charge to children with disabilities and their families.

Our organization is the only one in Bulgaria licensed by the National Agency for Child Protection for such services. The legitimacy of our application and professional certificates has been reviewed and approved by the National Agency. Our instructors are members of the International Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship, ensuring the highest level of expertise. To fund our projects, we rely on the crowdfunding platform GlobalGiving, which provides transparency and accountability through reports on completed activities and on-site visits. We are also proud to partner with private entities and fellow organizations who assist us in executing our projects and programs.
