Prairie State Railroad Club Inc. is a community of railroad enthusiasts based at Plowman’s Park in Big Rock, Illinois. The club brings together people who enjoy building and operating large-scale model railroad equipment and sharing their interest with others.

Its trains are built at 1:8 scale, also described as 1½-inch scale, and run on 7½-inch-gauge track. This size allows engineers to ride aboard and carry a few passengers, while making it practical to build working steam locomotives. Members also operate diesel locomotives, typically powered by gasoline or batteries, and electric railway cars.

People can take part in club activities without owning their own equipment, and the club welcomes newcomers interested in learning about the hobby. Prairie State Railroad Club organizes activities and events, including its Pumpkin Train and festivals, and offers event booking information. Its website also provides directions, club news, a photo gallery, membership details, and links to railroad-related suppliers and resources.

The club’s operations are for owners and their guests, not a general public passenger service
