We are a fourth-generation cattle operation out here on the Prairies of Manitoba in the heart of the Interlake! Our herd started out with a Simmental/Limousine influence and over the years, my father started to change directions with the herd and we now primarily run Red and Black Angus!

Prairie Sunset Ranch is a fourth-generation family cattle operation in Manitoba’s Interlake region, where the prairie landscape and farming heritage shape its approach to raising beef. The ranch primarily raises Red and Black Angus cattle, with a herd that originally included Simmental and Limousin influence. Animals are cared for on hay grown on the ranch, with small amounts of the farm’s organic oats used to support calves during weaning and gentle handling. The ranch describes its beef as 99% grass-fed and antibiotic- and hormone-free, and shares information about its practices through its YouTube channel.
Customers can order beef in quarter, half, or whole-animal shares. Shares include a selection of cuts from both the front and hind quarters, while a whole share comes from the entire animal. Typical selections may include ground beef, steaks, roasts, stewing and stir-fry meat, short ribs, soup bones, and liver. Cattle are 10 to 18 months old, and the beef is aged for 14 to 28 days before being cut and wrapped by an experienced butcher at a provincially inspected facility.
