Preface LLC is a Sendai-based company focused on creating ways to work and support people beyond the traditional hospital setting. Guided by the principle of making abilities possible in practical, individual ways, the company encourages people to value who they are and what they can do rather than compare themselves with others or focus only on limitations.

Preface offers consultation for rehabilitation challenges in senior and disability-care facilities, providing ongoing support informed by occupational therapy. Its Cook Rehab service uses cooking as the central activity and applies task analysis to identify challenges and suggest solutions. The company also sells original board games and develops programs that use games to foster communication skills.

Its services have been introduced in settings including employment-support programs, community activities, disability facilities, senior day services, and assisted-living homes. Through consultation, cooking-based rehabilitation, and board-game activities, Preface works with facilities and communities to create supportive experiences tailored to people’s abilities. The company’s name reflects its aim to become a starting point or catalyst for someone else.
