About Premio Jorge Bernal
Premio Jorge Bernal is an economic and academic recognition given to social researchers in Colombia. Established in 2011, it is now part of the CONFIAR Foundation. The aim of the prize is to support social research projects, focusing on the theme of integral rural development and peace in Colombia.
It is open to postgraduate students, university professors, and NGO researchers between the ages of 18 and 40. The prize honors the memory of Jorge Bernal and supports Colombian researchers in their efforts to study and address social issues such as poverty, inequality, social exclusion, and inequity. In 2017, the prize shifted its focus to rural development and peace, aligning with the national context and the implementation of peace agreements.
With its annual edition, the prize continues to contribute to the construction of peace in the country
