Prenso Metal was established in February 1992 with Portuguese, German, and American capital. The company’s initial strategy focused on entering the Iberian packaging market while simultaneously penetrating the automotive sector. In 1996, Prenso Metal made a strategic investment in fine blanking technology — unique in Portugal at the time — and progressively oriented its operations toward the production of assemblies, including components of high manufacturing complexity. In 2000, the German and American shareholders divested their holdings, making Prenso Metal a company fully owned by Portuguese capital. In 2001, the company expanded its capabilities by launching automated robotic welding operations, strengthening its manufacturing diversification strategy and reinforcing its position as a supplier of integrated assemblies to the automotive industry. In 2007, Prenso Metal introduced high-speed stamping technology, further enhancing productivity, precision, and competitiveness in high-volume manufacturing environments. Continuing its commitment to technological innovation and process integration, in 2018 the company implemented advanced in-die tapping and in-die bushing technologies. These capabilities allow threading and bushing insertion operations to be performed directly within the stamping process, significantly improving efficiency, eliminating secondary operations, and increasing overall product performance. Today, Prenso Metal is recognized as one of the market leaders in in-die tapping and in-die bushing technologies, delivering high value-added solutions to the automotive sector.
