About Press Forward
Press Forward is a coalition of funders committed to revitalizing local news across the country. They offer various funding opportunities for organizations dedicated to strengthening local newsrooms, accelerating the enabling environment for news production, closing inequalities in journalism coverage, and advancing public policies that expand access to local news and civic information. The funding is distributed through Aligned Grantmaking, a national pooled fund, and local chapters to support specific local information needs.
The coalition is independent of ideology and works with More Perfect, a bipartisan initiative. To facilitate seamless giving, funding announcements will be made starting in December 2023. This provides a platform for funders to coordinate aligned grantmaking and partner in a shared effort to support thriving, independent local news.
Press Forward is U. S. -based and operates under the fiscal sponsorship of The Miami Foundation.
