PRESTO

The PRE-hospital Stroke Treatment Organization (PRESTO) is an international consortium formed in 2016 for medical practitioners involved in the pre-hospital treatment of acute stroke. Its mission is to improve stroke outcomes through research and education that support the appropriate development and distribution of Mobile Stroke Units (MSUs), as well as other pre-hospital technologies and services. PRESTO works to advance evidence-based pre-hospital stroke systems worldwide and encourage collaboration across acute stroke care.

The organization provides a professional forum for communication and collaborative research, alongside educational resources for clinicians, the public, and other stakeholders. Its website offers information about MSU treatment rationale, current evidence, cost-effectiveness, staffing, operating models, and pre-hospital triage for endovascular treatment. Members can access benefits, a directory, a map of MSUs, webinars, meetings, and repositories of publications and news. PRESTO also promotes public education and advocates for government, institutional, industry, and philanthropic support. Through these activities, it aims to help communities and healthcare organizations understand and appropriately expand mobile stroke care.
