About Pride House Tokyo
Pride House Tokyo(プライドハウス東京)is a collaborative project involving organizations, individuals, companies, and embassies across sectors. It aims to provide a hospitality facility for the LGBTQ+ community, including sexual minorities, and promote diversity by offering various events and content. The concept of Pride House originated during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and Paralympics, with the goal of providing factual information and a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals in the sports industry.
Since then, Pride House has been established and operated by NGOs during major international sports events. Pride House Tokyo Consortium was created to support LGBTQ+ athletes, their families, friends, spectators, and local participants, and to create a permanent gathering place for LGBTQ+ youth. In 2020, Pride House Tokyo Legacy, Japan's first permanent large-scale LGBTQ+ center, opened in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
It offers a diverse range of programs and initiatives, including support for LGBTQ+ youth, LGBTQ+ suicide prevention measures, and collaboration with LGBTQ+ organizations nationwide
