The NUS–Lancet PRIME Commission is an expert initiative established by the National University of Singapore and The Lancet to strengthen pandemic preparedness and health security. Its name—Pandemic Readiness through Institutions, Mobilising Communities and Equity—captures its focus on the systems and social conditions needed to protect people during health crises. The Commission examines how protection failed during COVID-19 and how those weaknesses can be addressed, with an emphasis on moving beyond plans and technical capacity to practical, equitable action.
PRIME offers research and guidance for governments, institutions, communities and others working to improve readiness. Its resources include a main report on transforming pandemic readiness for equity, articles on health security and preventing future pandemics, and background papers. The Commission also shares its work through PRIME in Practice, publications, updates and events, including expert meetings. Across these activities, PRIME promotes a whole-of-society approach that places people, communities and equitable protection at the centre of pandemic planning and response.
