About Primer PICKR
Primer PICKR is a free, open tool for finding and evaluating PCR primer pairs, with a focus on RT-qPCR research. It searches primer data mined from PubMed and ranks candidate pairs using its PICKR Score, while also letting users sort by citation count, sharing, amplicon length, or difference in melting temperatures. Researchers can search genes across 40 species, including mammals, plants, insects, fish, fungi, and bacteria.
The site reports a database built from 7,143,175 primers drawn from 399,943 papers, used to generate and score 731,494 primer pairs covering 85,710 genes. Search filters help refine results by melting temperature, temperature difference, GC content, primer length, amplicon length, and minimum citations. Users can save selected pairs to a list and export them as CSV files or in formats for IDT and Sigma.
Primer PICKR also provides guidance on using the tool, a gene list, help resources, and channels for corrections and feedback. Its data comes from PubMed, and the site notes that the tool is not for clinical use
