PrimitivesLane

Primitives Lane is a nonprofit research group exploring blockchain and other frontier technologies. Its work focuses on addressing fundamental public issues, supporting researchers’ development, and creating a welcoming, collaborative environment for builders. The group provides grants and other support for research into cryptography, blockchain, and public goods, and shares findings through research reports and presentations. It also brings volunteers together to translate Bitcoin Optech content into Chinese, helping make technical resources accessible to a broader audience.

Beyond research and translation, Primitives Lane builds community through blockchain seminars and reading clubs. It participates in related projects and contributes to Ethereum.org’s multilingual resources. Its initiatives include Find Cypherpunk, a thematic study highlighting the stories and values of cypherpunk pioneers. Recent topics featured in its research and events include Bitcoin’s Replace-By-Fee policy, DeFi compliance, blockchain difficulty adjustments, and books such as Mastering Bitcoin. Primitives Lane is funded solely through donations and grants; it states that it has never accepted, and does not intend to accept, investment.
