Prirodakarlovarskacz

Přírodakarlovarska.cz is a regional nature and heritage website associated with Alter meles, a volunteer, nonprofit branch of the Czech Union for Nature Conservation founded in 2002. Its work focuses on protecting the natural and cultural heritage of the Karlovy Vary region and encouraging responsible care for the environment. The website shares articles about local plants, fungi, wildlife and protected landscapes, alongside stories on historic buildings, monuments and notable people. Its practical travel guides introduce places to visit across the region, including nature reserves, geological features, churches and sites connected with mining history.

The organization also supports hands-on conservation. Through the Vladař land association, established in 2008, it cares for dozens of hectares of protected land, including the meadows below Vladař and the Knínice willows, and helps protect the Viklan near Javorná. Another featured project is the ongoing rescue and sensitive restoration of St. Bartholomew’s Church in Přílezy, begun in 2017, together with improvements to the surrounding public space.
