Canadian Martial Arts Academy

Canadian Martial Arts Academy Powell River is a personal development martial arts studio serving the Powell River community since 2007. Its mission is to encourage personal excellence and integrity, support the community through student development, and provide strong service to students and their families. Led by Sensei Frank Clayton, a highly experienced instructor with senior ranks in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate and Ryukyu Kobudo, the academy combines traditional practice with modern teaching methods that emphasize confidence, discipline, respect, and leadership.

The academy offers programs for children aged four and up, with classes tailored to different stages of development. These include Knee High Samurai for ages four and five, Little Ninjas for six-year-olds, Little Dragons for ages seven to nine, and Junior Karate for ages ten to twelve. Students build physical skills alongside focus, self-control, accountability, and confidence. Adults and mature students can study Traditional Okinawan Karate and Classical Weapons, while Cardio Kickboxing offers a fitness-focused workout with music and instruction for beginners through advanced participants.
