PRODESSA, or the Proyecto de Desarrollo Santiago, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by Brothers Sebastián Farró and Oscar Azmitia, aimed at empowering former students of the Instituto Intercultural Santiago through community development projects. With over three decades of dedicated service, PRODESSA focuses on enhancing the quality of education and integral development in rural and predominantly indigenous communities in Guatemala. The organization initiated programs promoting sustainable agriculture and has established higher education pathways via the Escuela Superior de Educación Integral Rural (ESEDIR) to support students’ educational aspirations.

In the wake of the internal armed conflict and the subsequent peace agreements, PRODESSA has worked closely with other organizations to uplift impoverished communities, ensuring access to education and advocating for women's rights. Their efforts have prioritized creating policies and programs to promote social justice and equity. With a commitment to fostering positive change, PRODESSA continues to serve multiple communities, enhancing living conditions through education and community engagement.
