Progate is an online learning service that helps beginners and independent learners build practical programming and digital skills, from introductory concepts to workplace applications. Its lessons use illustrated slides, hands-on exercises, and browser-based coding, so learners can practice without setting up a development environment and progress at their own pace. Courses cover web fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, alongside Python, SQL, Java, C, PHP, Ruby, Go, and tools including Git and the command line.

Learners can also follow structured paths into web development with Node. js or Ruby on Rails, and explore topics such as React, TypeScript, backend development, data analysis, and automation. Progate offers introductory and more advanced subscription plans, as well as a plan for businesses.

Its newer learning content addresses generative AI, AI agents, and AI-driven development, including practical exercises with tools such as ChatGPT and Claude Code. With lessons designed around creating and solving problems, Progate aims to help users move from learning programming basics toward building products and applying skills in work and study
