The ROSE Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating cervical cancer in Malaysia. Starting as a research project called Pilot Project ROSE in 2017, led by the University of Malaya, the foundation aimed to evaluate the feasibility and reach of a groundbreaking cervical screening strategy in primary care settings. This strategy involved self-sampling using a painless swab, HPV testing, and follow-up for positive cases in referral hospitals.

It was a resounding success, leading to the launch of Program ROSE on January 14, 2019. Program ROSE, which stands for Removing Obstacles to Cervical Screening, seeks to make this innovative screening approach widely accessible to Malaysian women. With the support of the Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry, as well as the Health Ministry, the goal is to make Malaysia one of the first countries in the region to be free of cervical cancer.

The formation of the ROSE Foundation in July 2019 further enhanced the initiative by establishing their own laboratory and implementing community outreach programs across the country. By combining prevention, innovation, and community engagement, the foundation is fully committed to achieving its vision of eliminating cervical cancer in Malaysia
