Prohound is the nation's largest organization dedicated to the registration of coonhounds and the exciting sport of competitive raccoon hunting. Based in Evansville, Indiana, Prohound offers more than 8000 night hunts for coonhounds annually, along with hunting competitions for squirrel dogs and beagles. What sets Prohound apart from other coon hunting registries is that winners of its competitions earn monetary awards.

The organization sponsors prestigious events such as the World Championship, National Championship, Futurity Championship, and the Super Stakes Championship for coonhounds. Prohound also hosts World Championships for squirrel dogs and beagles. During these events, firearms are not permitted, and no game is taken.

All dogs are evaluated based on specific event rules, which are formulated byparticipants themselves. Membership in the PKC National Association allows coon, squirrel, and rabbit hunters to participate in Prohound licensed events, and includes a year-long subscription to the official publication, PROHOUND magazine. Additionally, members can join the PKC State Association and the Breed Association of their choice.

The PKC breeder's program, known as Super Stakes, offers accurate pedigree information backed by mandatory DNA-profiling. Breeders and participants have the opportunity to compete for generous cash awards in the Super Stakes Program every year. Prohound is owned and operated by Roger Dale Carnegie, a successful businessman and avid competition hunter.
