Projects Abroad

Projects Abroad is an international volunteering and internship organisation established in 1992. It has welcomed more than 145,000 participants and offers supported programmes in destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. Its opportunities are designed for people at different stages of life, including high school students aged 14–18, volunteers and interns aged 16 and over, gap-year participants, groups, and travellers aged 50 and over.

Projects span conservation and the environment, medicine and healthcare, childcare and teaching, community development, sports coaching, building and archaeology, law and human rights, and microfinance and business. Participants can choose from structured projects, professional internships, gap programmes, or trips tailored to groups and partnerships. The organisation emphasises personal growth, practical involvement, and learning through international experience. Safety and guidance are central to its approach, with permanent local teams providing 24/7 support in destinations and assistance before, during, and after travel.
