Promenade is an innovative project under the EU Horizon 2020 initiative aimed at optimizing maritime information and enhancing surveillance capabilities across European waters. With approximately 12,000 vessels navigating daily, the project addresses the challenge of managing vast data volumes generated by vessel positional information. Promenade promotes the collaborative exchange of knowledge among maritime surveillance authorities, aiding compliance with legal and ethical standards while expediting the adoption of advanced technologies.

At its core, Promenade employs Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to improve vessel detection, tracking, and behavior analysis, developing a comprehensive toolkit for Border Guard Authorities. This toolkit encompasses various functionalities, including risk assessment, pattern detection, and future state prediction, all structured within a robust data infrastructure. The project will validate these capabilities through multiple operational trials, focusing on critical issues such as drug seizure, smuggling detection, and people trafficking. By fostering partnerships and integrating existing resources, Promenade aims to transform maritime surveillance and enhance safety in European waters.
