Proper Strand Lopers mobiliseert burgers om stranden en kustgebieden zwerfafvalvrij te maken. Door directe actie werken we aan een propere en veilige maritieme leefomgeving. Als onafhankelijke en ongebonden community pakken we het zwerfafval, en overmatig gebruik plastiek, structureel aan door het creëren van bewustwording en gedragsverandering. Wij inspireren en brengen mensen samen om natuurlijke hulpbronnen te beschermen en een circulaire samenleving te bevorderen. Door samenwerking met overheden, burgers, culturele en socio-economische organisaties bouwen we aan een duurzame toekomst voor volgende generaties. Als burgerinitiatief zijn we ontstaan op sociale media hen maken we op efficiënte manier gebruik van dit instrument om maximaal bereik te hebben. Resultaten in 8 jaar tijd: • Ruim 850.000 liter (850 m³) afval geregistreerd (250-300 ton), dit resultaat enkel op strand en in duinen • Ruim 20.000 individuele opruimacties, meer dan 300 gezamenlijke acties, ruim 35.000 engagementen • 110x Teambuildings, 60x klasbegeleidingen en/of workshops overal aan de Belgische kust • Samenwerkingen en projecten met kustgemeenten: charter zwerfvuil strandfestivals, charter bouwafval, consulting, Trash Bingo, opleiding milieuteams, burgerwetenschap, exposities retroafval… • Participatie aan beleid voor omgeving: werkgroep kustafval, werkgroep strand- en afvalbeleid Oostende, PLUXIN stuurgroep & advisory board, MARBEFES, impact op alle beleidsniveaus. • Erkend als United Nations Ocean Action en UNESCO Green Citizens organization. Meerdere awards en erkenningen.

About Proper Strand Lopers

Proper Strand Lopers is a brand that aims to make a difference in the world by addressing the issue of waste, particularly on our beaches, roads, forests, and parks. They strive to create a change in mentality by allowing people to experience the problem firsthand. The concept is simple: individuals or groups share their cleanup activities in a Facebook group, inspiring others to do the same.

With over 6,900 Facebook members, including more than 400 active volunteers, Proper Strand Lopers is dedicated to cleaning up the Belgian beaches on a daily basis. As their membership continues to grow, the organization has taken on the status of a non-profit association to provide professional support. Proper Strand Lopers recently received the prestigious Trofee Stadsfiguur 2023, honoring founder Tim Corbisier and all the members for their positive approach.

By organizing cleanup events, such as the upcoming annual beach cleanup on World Cleanup Day/EUCleanBeachDay/InternationalcoastalCleanupDay, Proper Strand Lopers invites everyone to join their mission of creating a cleaner environment
