Pro Puruvesi

Pro Puruvesi ry is a Finnish association founded in Kerimäki on 15 July 2010 to promote the cleanliness and wellbeing of Lake Puruvesi and increase public awareness of its condition. It works through public engagement, making proposals on needed water-protection measures, and organizing discussions, lectures, seminars and community events. Within its resources, the association may also provide financial support to initiatives and projects that benefit the lake, or take part in them directly.

A key part of its work is monitoring and sharing information about the waterway. The association publishes water-clarity observations and time-series data, and reports on blue-green algae observations, alongside related materials and reports. Its activities include supporting catchment-area restoration and following the performance of water-management structures. Pro Puruvesi also collaborates with local communities, authorities, organizations and other partners on water-management efforts. The website provides information about the association’s goals, administration, membership, events, projects and publications, and explains how people can join or support its work.
