Pro RETT Ricerca is an Italian nonprofit organization founded in May 2004 by parents of girls with Rett syndrome. Its mission is to engage leading researchers in studying the condition and help advance the search for a cure. The association supports scientific research through funding projects, research positions and studies at universities and specialist centers, including the San Raffaele Rett Research Center, which it helped establish in 2011.
It has supported junior and senior researchers and collaborates with international organizations dedicated to Rett syndrome research. Pro RETT Ricerca also connects families with researchers, promotes information about the condition, and encourages mutual support among those affected and involved in care and research. Its activities include organizing international scientific conferences, sharing research updates through its news publications, and helping people find clinical and diagnostic centers in Italy.
Supporters can contribute through donations, membership, fundraising initiatives and Italy’s 5x1000 tax allocation. Through these efforts, the organization works to strengthen research and build hope for a treatment or cure
