Secrec is a personal, portable vault from ProSecrec, designed to help users organize and protect confidential information. The application can store passwords, private keys, and other important details, as well as photos of items such as credit cards, driving licenses, and passports. Its focus is on keeping a user’s information secure and accessible without relying on an internet connection.
Secrec creates a filesystem-based vault that can be stored on a USB drive, hard disk, or cloud storage folder, including services such as Dropbox or Box. The vault is encrypted on disk using a password key, with AES-256-CTR encryption. This portable design lets users access their vault across Windows and Mac OS X systems. The beta application is available for Mac OS X and Windows 10, and the site offers a feature walkthrough and screenshots to explain its capabilities. Secrec invites users to start for free, request access to its beta program, and submit feedback.
