About Protein Research Foundation
Established in 1990, the Protein Research Foundation (PRF) is dedicated to conducting research and addressing protein-related matters. With a rich history dating back to 1973, the PRF has played a significant role in funding research projects aimed at achieving specific objectives. Its primary focus is on protein research, particularly in the agricultural sector.
In the early seventies, the PRF recognized the potential of soybean oilcake as a viable alternative to fishmeal, which was a strategic product with limited availability for export. Today, the PRF continues to explore various protein sources and their utilization, including canola, lupins, sunflower, and groundnuts. The foundation also provides bursaries and awards to support individuals in pursuing research and academic excellence in protein-related fields.
