About SEO
LIBERA is a project born in 2017 to combat the impacts of litter left in natural spaces, known as "basuraleza", across various Spanish ecosystems. Founded by Spain's oldest environmental NGO, SEO/BirdLife, in partnership with Ecoembes, a non-profit organization promoting circular economy through recycling. The project aims to fight climate change and nature conservation by addressing the issue of basuraleza.
Through initiatives focusing on knowledge, citizen science, reports, prevention, sensitization, education, natural parks, and participation, LIBERA engages individuals, businesses, organizations, and educational institutions in cleaning up and preventing litter. By using mobile apps like Basuraleza, eLitter, and Marnoba, anyone can contribute to scientific research on litter, helping develop tailored solutions.
