About PRS
The Philosophical Research Society (PRS) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit cultural and educational institution founded in 1934. Its mission is to study, conserve, teach, and publish knowledge of philosophy, religion, science, and art across cultures and throughout history in a universal, nonsectarian spirit. Serving people seeking practical and profound wisdom, PRS offers seminars, classes, concerts, and other events focused on philosophy, mythology, mysticism, and the humanities.
Its historic landmark campus includes a public art and performance space, the Hansell Gallery, and an esoteric philosophical research library with more than 30,000 rare volumes. The society also provides online memberships, courses, and on-demand video and audio programs, extending educational opportunities beyond Los Angeles. Through its bookstore and online shop, PRS publishes and sells books, lecture materials, study guides, tarot decks, audio, e-books, prints, posters, and merchandise, including works by Manly P.
Hall and editions of The Secret Teachings of All Ages. Visitors can support its nonprofit work through memberships, donations, and volunteering
