Pennsylvania Society of Addiction Medicine

The Pennsylvania Society of Addiction Medicine (PSAM) is a physician-led professional society and Pennsylvania chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. It brings together physicians and medical students interested in alcoholism, drug dependence, and drug use as public health issues. PSAM works to advance evidence-based addiction science and care, share knowledge and research, promote high-quality treatment for people with substance use disorder, and inform medical and public opinion.

The organization supports its mission through professional community, education, and advocacy. Its online educational resources and continuing medical education focus on improving care for people affected by substance use disorder and addiction. PSAM also advocates on Pennsylvania legislation and regulation affecting addiction medicine and people with substance use disorder, and shares policy updates, including information on proposed kratom regulation. Members can join committees and participate in the society’s activities. PSAM offers a symposium and publishes the PSAM Review, alongside public policy resources and information on tobacco recovery.
