Pseudomyxoma Survivor

Pseudomyxoma Survivor is a patient- and caregiver-run charity supporting people affected by pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), appendix cancer and other rare peritoneal surface malignancies. For more than 15 years, it has provided practical information, emotional support and a welcoming community for patients and families navigating these uncommon diseases. Its resources explain PMP, tests and procedures, treatment approaches, tumour pathology and specialist care, helping people make sense of complex information while encouraging them to seek medical advice from their doctors.

The organisation connects people through online community spaces, including a private Facebook group, and offers Pseudomyxoma Buddies: confidential, one-to-one peer support from someone with relevant experience. Its website also features survivors’ stories, frequently asked questions, a glossary, updates and information about events. A directory of specialist centres helps users find services for PMP and appendix cancer. The charity advocates for patients, raises awareness and supports research, including funding for The Beacon Project, which is exploring a blood test for earlier PMP detection.
