About PSRS
The Public School Retirement System of Missouri (PSRS) and the Public Education Employee Retirement System of Missouri (PEERS) collectively serve as vital retirement programs for educational professionals across the state. Established in 1946, PSRS was created to provide certificated public school employees and their families with crucial retirement income, as well as disability and survivor benefits. Its counterpart, PEERS, established in 1965 and renamed in 2005, caters specifically to non-certificated public school personnel. Together, these systems have grown significantly, with PSRS issuing its first benefit check in 1947 and now supporting over 20,000 members.
The systems rely on collaboration with over 500 employer partners, including public school districts and educational associations, to report pertinent service information and fund benefits. Through comprehensive services like retirement planning, disability support, and educational counseling, PSRS/PEERS is committed to ensuring financial security for its members throughout their careers and into retirement.
