About ICP
The Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) is the national umbrella body for psychotherapy in Ireland, representing over 1,700 psychotherapists nationwide. Their mission is to contribute to public health by promoting the highest standards of training, practice, and ongoing education for psychotherapists. The ICP also aims to raise awareness about psychotherapy as an effective intervention for good mental and emotional health.
They serve as a connection between individuals seeking psychotherapeutic services and qualified practitioners. The ICP has several objectives, including consolidating and promoting psychotherapy as a free and independent profession, advocating for the wider provision of psychotherapy for the public, and establishing and monitoring national and European registers of accredited psychotherapists in Ireland. By doing so, they ensure that individuals have access to professional and reliable psychotherapy services
