Pubblica Assistenza ValNure (PAV) is a community-based volunteer association serving the Val Nure area of Italy since 1983. Its team of more than 200 volunteers works around the clock, every day of the year, supporting people in Ponte dell’Olio, Bettola, Vigolzone and Podenzano. With a fleet that includes ambulances and specialist vehicles, PAV provides emergency medical response in partnership with the 118 Emilia Ovest service.
It also arranges non-emergency transport for patients and people with disabilities, including journeys for appointments, treatment, hospital discharge and transfers. At sporting events, volunteers and vehicles provide medical assistance, from local tournaments to rallies and larger competitions. PAV’s Civil Protection group responds to emergencies such as floods, earthquakes and wildfires, and helps search for missing people locally and nationally.
The association offers training for people interested in volunteering; no specific qualifications are required to enrol. Community members can support its work by volunteering, donating or allocating their five-per-thousand tax contribution to PAV
