Puertas de la Catedral de Burgos is a cultural and artistic project presenting three monumental bronze doors designed by Spanish artist Antonio López for Burgos Cathedral. Created in connection with the cathedral’s VIII Centenary in 2021, the doors offer a contemporary interpretation of its heritage while respecting the monument’s spiritual character and eight centuries of history. Their sculpted scenes draw on three moments in Christian tradition: the Creation, the Incarnation and the Annunciation.
Each door is conceived as a visual story, inviting visitors to reflect on the relationship between faith, art and human experience. The project was developed over more than six years by López and a team of sculptors and technical specialists, coordinated by Consuelo de la Cuadra. Their process combined traditional craftsmanship with digital enlargement, mould-making, bronze casting and patination.
The project’s website introduces the concept, the artist and the production process, and features information about the doors, events, blog content, an exhibition and photo galleries
