Pulp Friction

Pulp Friction CIO is a Nottingham-based charity supporting learning disabled and autistic people to build confidence, develop practical skills and explore opportunities for work and greater independence. Since 2009, it has aimed to challenge perceptions and create an inclusive, supportive space where members can learn and grow. Its person-centred pathway begins with a visit and taster day at the Community Hub in Bestwood, then is shaped around each member’s ambitions. Support can include training, qualifications and practical experience, as well as help to pursue employment, volunteering or further education.

The charity’s activities connect learning with community life. Members take part in workshops, prepare community meals, support catering at events, and work on gardening projects and green-space clean-ups. The organisation also offers opportunities to join its Atmosphere Choir and take part in community events. Pulp Friction welcomes volunteers and corporate partners, and donations help fund equipment, food-safety training, travel and workshops. Through these services and partnerships, the charity works to recognise members’ skills and promote more inclusive workplaces.
