Puppet Planet is an educational entertainment brand celebrating South Africa’s natural heritage through puppetry, music and dance. Its stories introduce science and the history of life on Earth, following nine-year-old Thandi and her dog, Ogies, on imaginative adventures. Based on a farm in the Karoo, the characters discover a fossil of Lystrosaurus, an ancient mammal relative, and travel 250 million years into the past to explore the world it inhabited. Through these journeys, children can encounter extinct animals, investigate ancient environments and learn how life has changed over time.
Puppet Planet offers a range of ways for families and young audiences to engage with its stories, including shows and media, online games, learning resources and activities such as the Surviving Extinction game. The brand also promotes workshops and family programmes at the Iziko Museum in Cape Town, when available, and offers playhouse and birthday party experiences.
