Purple and Black is an independent, unofficial online community centered on Prince, his music, and the people and artists connected to it. Its discussion forums bring fans together to share music recommendations, memories, reviews, links, and everyday conversation. Dedicated spaces cover Prince-related topics, including his recordings, associated artists, and Prince-focused YouTube videos, podcasts, and reviews.

Members can also discuss music beyond Prince, take part in general-interest conversations, and join discussions about politics and religion. The site supports community interaction through spaces for sharing art, arranging informal get-togethers or online meetings, and discussing how to improve the forum. Its marketplace lets members buy, sell, and support one another, while a separate support forum is available for requests and assistance.

Visitors can browse recent posts, trending discussions, member activity, and forum updates, or register to participate. With a mix of focused fan discussion and broader community topics, Purple and Black offers a place for Prince enthusiasts and members with varied interests to connect and contribute
