About Purple Couch Project
Purple Couch Project | Kameyama is a climbing brand and gym that aims to create a global community of climbers. Their brand name is inspired by a legendary climbers' house in Gunks, NY, which had an iconic purple couch. This house served as a gathering place for local climbers, fostering connections and camaraderie.
Although the house is no longer standing, it has become a symbol of the climbing community's roots and fond memories. The founder, inspired by this story, decided to establish Purple Couch Project (PCP) in Japan as a way to stay connected with fellow climbers. PCP's ultimate goal is to make the world a more accessible place for climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.
They plan to open a climbing gym in Japan, which will serve as their basecamp. The gym will not only offer climbing facilities but also provide accommodations, a bar, and a cafe. Recognizing the importance of community, especially in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, PCP aims to foster a sense of belonging and create opportunities for climbers to connect globally.
With their forthcoming gym in Japan and future expansion plans, Purple Couch Project | Kameyama is committed to building a vibrant and inclusive climbing community
