Herdenkingspark PuurOord is a memorial park in a quiet natural setting near Boekelo, offering families a personal place to remember loved ones who have died. Rooted in respect for nature and its healing qualities, the park provides a choice of memorial options centered on trees, which symbolize remembrance, life, hope and the future.
Families can plant a young tree as a living monument, with or without placing the deceased’s ashes at its roots. Ashes may be buried loose or in a biodegradable urn, and a tree can also be planted when the person was buried or their ashes were placed elsewhere. The park’s natural surroundings offer space to sit, walk, reflect and find quiet.
PuurOord supports families in shaping a meaningful tree-planting ritual, with time, privacy and care. Families may include music, poems, stories, photographs and personal tributes, and the ceremony can be led by PuurOord or by relatives. The park also provides memorial plaques and a dedicated place for remembrance, while managing the grounds with care for the existing environment.
