Puyan is the inaugural short student animation festival in Iran, born from the passion of animation students at Tehran University. It all began with Animation Week, where students gathered to watch films, engage in discussions, and learn from one another. Now in its fifth iteration, Puyan has evolved into a broader celebration of creativity and collaboration.

The festival's name, meaning one who moves steadily, resonates with the essence of animation—movement and life. Puyan stands for Poyanemayi, a term revitalizing the art of animation in Persian culture. Organized by the Animation Student Scientific Association of Tehran University, the festival emphasizes values such as learning, teamwork, dialogue, and collective creation.

A selection committee comprising esteemed students and alumni carefully curates the entries, while prominent figures from the Iranian animation industry, including Amir Mohammad Dehestani and Mohsen Malayeri, preside over the final evaluations.
