PXE Portugal is a nonprofit association founded in 2008 to support people affected by Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE) and related conditions. Initially focused on PXE, the organization broadened its work in 2021 to include other calcifying connective tissue diseases. Its website provides information about these rare conditions, including PXE, Generalized Arterial Calcification of Infancy (GACI), and a range of other disorders.

The resources explain aspects of the diseases and highlight the importance of early identification and attention to possible health consequences. PXE Portugal also shares news and events, offers information on becoming a member and accessing official documents, and explains ways the public can help. To encourage connection and exchange, the association joined EURORDIS’s RareConnect initiative and created and moderates a community for people affected by PXE.

It also shares information about the International Society for Ectopic Calcification and its participation in the Plataforma Saúde em Diálogo. Through education, community-building, and representation, PXE Portugal works to make rare calcifying diseases better understood and to support those affected
